Résumé The present Law establishes legal basis for standardization in Georgia and regulates relations in the sphere of standardization. The purposes of standardization are: (1) ensuring safety of products, processes and services for environmental protection, human life, health and property; (2) accumulation of natural, material and economic resources; and (3) protection of consumers’ rights in the sphere of ensuring of quality of the products. The document consists of X Chapters that contain 24 Articles. Chapter I (arts. 1-9) lays down general provisions. Chapter II (arts. 10-12) regards normative documentation in the field of standardization. Chapter III (art. 13) regards technical requirements. Chapter IV (art. 14) regards compliance requirements. Chapter V (arts. 15 and 16) regards information on normative documentation in the field of standardization, technical requirements and the procedure of ascertainment of compliance. Chapter VI (arts. 17-19) regards state control and survey over the observance of mandatory standards. Chapter VII (art.20) establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation on standardization. Chapter VIII (arts. 21 and 22) regards financing of state standardization, state control and survey, and incentives for the application of standards. Chapter IX (art. 23) lays down transitional provisions. Chapter X (art. 24) lays down final provisions.
