Résumé This Law provides that all Georgian consumers have the right to demand: (a) the conformity of all goods, work, and trade or other service to the appropriate quality standard; (b) product safety; (c) appropriate information concerning product quality, quantity and sphere of application; (d) compensation for damages caused by products that are substandard or dangerous to consumer health or life; (e) protection of rights in court by an appropriately authorized governmental agency; and (f) the right to organize consumers’ associations. Sellers, manufacturers, supplier are obligated to offer the consumer products that conform to quality standards, the terms of agreement, and the information about the products produced by the seller (manufacturer, supplier). Consumers may demand that products under normal storage, transportation or use be safe for life, health, property and the environment. The following product information shall be furnished to consumers: (a) name and type of product; (b) company name and address of the product’s manufacturer, including country; (c) expiration date, where appropriate; (d) technical regulations and/or standards with which the products complies; (e) the principal consumer properties the product, including: for foods, the caloric and nutritional values and additives; and for harmful substances, possible counter-indications; (f) product safety instructions for use and storage; and (g) certification where required.
