Résumé This Law, consisting of 17 articles divided into four Chapters, establishes the Plant Health Protection within the State of Ceará. It specifies a set of measures and practices necessary to prevent the introduction, dissemination and establishment of pests and ensure agricultural and industrial productivity within the State of Ceará. The Executive Branch is responsible for promoting, maintaining and recovering the health of plants of economic importance, using procedures to safeguard the quality of the environment and human health. The Department of Rural Development of the State of Ceará is responsible for: establish these procedures, practices, prohibitions and impositions, necessary for the Plant Health Protection; inform on pests, quarantine and non-quarantine, and their respective hosts and potential plants that they attack; implement state and/or regional programmes for pest control; promote, through the Rural Extension Service campaigns and actions for plant health education, to rural producers and to all those involved in industrial activities and agroindustries; register and supervise establishments that produce and market vegetables and their products, especially seedlings and seeds; promote "Pest Free Areas"; prohibit transit and/or public or private areas, where the measure warrants the prevention or eradication of pests of economic importance; supervise the transit of vegetables, throughout the territory of Ceará; disinfect vehicles used in the transport of contaminated plants, eliminate plants and their products when contaminated, etc. Texte intégral Portugais Site web www.al.ce.gov.br
