This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Résumé

This Law, consisting of 22 articles divided into six Chapters, regulates the Sustainable Development of Shrimp Farming in the State of Paraíba. In particular, this Law provides for this activity, formulated, coordinated and implemented under the general rules established by the National Shrimp Development Policy. It aims to promote the following activities: sustainable exploitation of Paraíba's natural resources by shrimp farming, as important source of food, employment, income and foreign exchange, ensuring the optimization of the resulting economic benefits, in harmony with the conservation of the environment and biodiversity; promote and regulate marine shrimp farming; promote the ecologically sustainable use of ecosystems in the Coastal Zone, Estuaries, Reservoirs and Brackish, Superficial and Underground Waters; State socioeconomic development, including technological and professional enhancement of shrimp farming; support for research on innovations aimed at improving ecological interaction and technical-economic efficiency, etc. The licensing of the activity will be fast and judicious, observing the imperative maintenance of its conditions of productivity and sanity, with a view to protecting the interests of the consumer and the conservation of the environment.
