Résumé This Law, consisting of 9 articles, establishes the State Policy on Sustainable Rural Development of Family Farming. The objectives of this State Policy are: to establish the actions and instruments of the Public Power to promote, regulate, control and evaluate activities responding to the needs of the agricultural sector, aiming to increase production and agricultural productivity, price and market stability, improving rural family living conditions; to ensure the availability of food through the sustained supply of basic food products; to stimulate associative's organization of producers and rural workers; to protect the environment, ensuring the rational use of natural resources and stimulating the recovery of degraded ecosystems; to promote strategic stocks and the raising of competitive standards, with a view to establishing better conditions for the commercialization, supply and export of products; to provide institutional support to the rural producer, guaranteeing priority to the family farmer, traditional peoples, communities, and beneficiaries of agrarian reform programmes; to provide technical assistance and rural extension to family farmers, traditional peoples and communities; to promote rural family access to infrastructure, health services, social assistance, etc.; to stimulate the process of agro-industrialization, to guarantee universal access to quality and sufficient water, with priority for water insecure families and for implementing programmes that ensure the preservation of biodiversity, the reproduction of cultural heritage, observing social and racial-ethnic diversity and gender and generation equity; to guarantee support for the environmental regularization of rural establishments in family farming; to guarantee support for the sanitary regulation of small rural agro-industrial establishments; to consolidate mechanisms and instruments of social management in the planning, elaboration, integration, control and monitoring of public policies.
