Résumé This Law, consisting of 57 articles divided into eight Chapters and two Annexes, provides for the sanitary animal health protection within the State of Mato Grosso. This Law establishes sanitary standards for animal health protection, which comprise the set of actions to protect the herds, preventing the introduction of eradicated or exotic diseases, preventing their spreading, as well as the systematic fight against endemic diseases through sanitary measures of prevention, control and eradication by slaughtering / elimination of animals; protect animal health and welfare, public health and environmental preservation. The objective of the sanitary animal health protection aims at the prevention, control and/or eradication of animal diseases of economic impact and importance in light to valuing livestock and public health. It is under the responsibility of the Institute of Agricultural and Livestock Protection of the State of Mato Grosso (INDEA/MT), through its official veterinary services, to analyze the epidemiological situation, plan, articulate, standardize, coordinate and implement animal health protection in accordance with the recommendations of the International Animal Sanitary Code of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the standards of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
