Résumé

This Law creates the Policy on Animal Health Protection within the State of Santa Catarina, with a view to valuing animal production, promoting public health, protecting human consumers and the environment. The Law specifies a set of basic actions to be developed aimed at protecting animals, reducing the risks of introducing and spreading disease-causing agents, as well as reducing the possibilities of transmitting diseases from animals to humans. The Executive Branch, through the Secretariat of Rural Development and Agriculture, will be responsible for establishing, coordinating and monitoring State or regional programmes for the control or eradication of animal diseases that interfere with the State's economy, public health or the environment. Actions will be carried out throughout the State territory by an executing body to be designated by the Secretariat of Rural Development and Agriculture.
