The objectives of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan include, inter alia,: 1) protecting, improving or restoring the elements that contribute to the ecological health of the Lake Simcoe and watershed, including water quality, hydrology and key natural heritage features; 2) restoring a self-sustaining coldwater fish community; 3) reducing loading of phosphorus and other nutrients of concern into Lake Simcoe and its tributaries; 4) reducing the discharge of pollutants to Lake Simcoe and its tributaries. The Lake Simcoe Protection Act brings together and builds upon the many projects launched by groups and individuals to protect and restore the health of Lake Simcoe and its watershed.
