Mot clé Pollution de la mer Pollution par les hydrocarbures Responsabilité/indemnisation Mise en application Aire géographique Afrique, Atlantique Sud, Afrique Méridionale Résumé This Act grants powers to the Minister to make regulations: (a) to give effect to any provision of the Convention relating to Intervention on the High Seas in cases of Oil Pollution Casualties as applicable in the Republic; (b) prescribing fees, and providing for the recovery of any expenditure incurred, in connection with the application of the Convention in the Republic, and provides for matters of jurisdiction in relation with the enforcement of the Convention: If any person is charged with having committed an offence in terms of this Act on the high seas, the offence shall be deemed to have been committed within the area of jurisdiction of the court in which that person is found. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other law, a magistrate's court shall have jurisdiction to impose any penalty provided for in this Act.
