The present Instruction establishes the modalities of carrying out citogenetic control in stockbreeding that shall be the integral part of the genetic expertise of the origin and abnormalities of pedigree livestock. Citogenetic control is the inspection of the state of chromosomal apparatus of livestock, the integrity thereof and the presence of the structural and qualitative abnormalities of karyotype. The purpose of citogenetic control shall be the exposure of the absence or of the presence of chromosomal, chromatidal, genomic qualitative and quantitative changes and abnormalities. Citogenetic control shall be carried out as may be necessary. The materials for the extraction of chromosomal preparations shall be blood obtained from the jugular vein (cattle, sheep, goats and equine-animals) and blood obtained from the auricular vein (swine).
