This standard applies to vegitables of the varieties (cultivars) of Lactuca sativa L. and Cichorium endivia L., to be exported and for supply fresh to the consumer after preparation and packaging. The aforementioned vegitables intended for industrial processing are not covered by the present regulations. This standard defines also the minimum quality requirements to be met by lettuce and endive after preparation and packaging, classification, sizing, packaging and presentation, marking and labelling.
