Résumé This Act consists of 46 sections divided into 5 Parts. The purposes of the Act include providing for the economic, orderly and efficient development and operation of hydro energy and the generation and transmission of electric energy, and securing the observance of safe and efficient practices in the development of hydro energy and in the generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy (sect. 2). The Energy Resources Conservation Board is the body designated to manage the Act, and its powers and duties are described under Part 1. Part 2 contains provisions on permits and licences for hydro developments, power plants and transmission lines. Part 3 deals with electric distribution systems, while Part 4 regulates land rights and rights of way related hydro and electric energy plans and transmissions. Part 5 provides for administrative procedures and offences and penalties for violations of the Act.
