It provides rules for composition and appointment of members and determines the powers and duties of the Board. Notably, the Board shall be responsible for the promotion and economic development of the equine industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Chapter also establishes a special nonreverting fund known as the Virginia Horse Industry Promotion and Development Fund. Moneys in the Fund shall be used solely for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Chapter. The Chapter also provides rules for the administration of a referendum on continuation of levying equine infectious anemia test fee and an equine feed assessment.
