They help the user identify the risk to a water source and to engage the people and organisations responsible for the problem in a positive way that lead to a mutually beneficial outcome. The Guidelines concern, among other things, protecting deep boreholes, shallow wells or boreholes, and protecting springs (from non-sustainable use and pollution).
