In order to achieve the elimination of land degradation in Armenia, the national voluntary global goal is to increase the organic carbon reserves in the soil (underground and surface areas) by 2040 by 1.5% compared to 2015. The main actions to achieve the national goal of neutralizing land degradation are: (a) stop the degradation of agricultural arable land by switching to agro-ecological principles (including the best "organic" technologies available); (b) performance of forest restoration, afforestation of degraded areas, improvement of forest areas, sustainable use of forest resources; (c) improvement of pastures management; (d) classification of degraded land; (e) development of monitoring indicators aimed at neutralizing land degradation; and (f) implementation of measures for biological rehabilitation and improvement of land disturbed as a result of subsoil management.
