Résumé

This Regulation, implementing provisions of Article 6 paragraph (1) of Law no. 31 of 2004 on Fisheries, in its last amended version, concerns the controlled and proportional fish catching in the measured fish catching zone, in order to: maintain the sustainability and ensure the preservation of fish resources and their environment, provide for the equitable national economic growth, the welfare of fishermen and the increasing of employment opportunities. The Regulation focuses on the definition of measured fishing zones, as the division of the fisheries management area of the country into six zones, each with different quotas and restrictions for different types of fishermen and fishing vessels, thus giving priority to local and small-scale fishermen, who are allowed to fish in the limited fishing areas up to 12 nautical miles from the coast. Matters covered by the Regulation include: requirements to fishermen, issuance of fishing business licence, payment of non-tax State revenue and a fee, use of permitted fishing gears, activation of a vessel monitoring system, landing at designated ports, in order to ensure the traceability and quality of the fish.
