Résumé: This Act amends the Genetically Modified Organisms Act, 1997 in provisions concerning, among other things: the composition, objectives, powers and duties of the Council for Genetically Modified Organisms; the functions of the registrar; environmental impact assessment and avoidance of impact on the environment and human and animal health arising from use of genetically modified organisms; and the application for permits. This Act amends also the Long Title of the principal Act and inserts an Annexure containing the text of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
