Résumé

These Regulations, consisting of 43 sections divided into eight Parts and completed by three Schedules, aims to protect the health and safety of people as well as the environment, by identifying risks posed by or as a result of gene technology, and by managing those risks through regulating certain dealings with GMOs. These Regulations deal with the use of certain techniques and the release of GMOs into the environment and are divided into the following Parts: Preliminary (1); Interpretation and general operation (2); Dealings with GMOs (3); Gene Technology Technical Advisory Committee (4); Ethics and Community Committee (5); Miscellaneous (7); Transitional (8). Schedules deal with: Techniques that are not gene technology (1A); Organisms that are not genetically modified organisms (1); Dealings exempt from licensing (2); Notifiable low risk dealings in relation to a GMO (3).
