They place size limit of oysters that may be retained and prescribe daily fishing periods, weekly fishing periods and annual close season for the taking of wild oysters In addition, they prohibit the fishing of oysters in areas specified in aquaculture licences granted by the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission, require vessels named in an oyster fishing licence to display a licence number and allow the Commission to declare a period of suspension of oyster fishing in order to conserve and protect stocks.
