If no requirements have been established under the Food and Drug Act (Canada), the LGC may establish provincial quality and compositional standards for the manufacture or processing of foodstuffs for sale in British Columbia (sect. 4). Moreover, the LGC is given the power to establish more stringent or specific standards than those present in the federal Act. The remaining provisions deal with powers of inspection, regulations, offences and penalties.
