Given the social transformations experienced by the Brazilian society, which will impact their health and nutrition conditions, it would be necessary to present new recommendations. This second edition of the guide went through a public consultation process, which allowed its broad debate by various sectors of society and guided the construction of the final version. Taking as an assumption the right to health and adequate and healthy food, the guide is an official document that addresses the principles and recommendations for an adequate and healthy food for the Brazilian population, configuring itself as an instrument to support food and nutritional education. Considering the multiple determinants of food practices and the complexity and challenges involved in shaping food systems, the food guide reinforces the commitment of the Ministry of Health to contribute to strategies for the promotion and implementation of the human right to adequate food.
