The authorized fishing gear shall be considered hooks, underwater fishing gear, crawfish traps, meshing nets, screen nets and trawl nets. The use of non-classified conceptually new fishing gear and fishing methods must be authorized by the minister of environmental protection. The following fishing methods shall be prohibited: (a) traditional raft fishing with nets (botanie); (b) use of electric current; (c) use of poisonous and narcotic substances; (d) use of unmarked fixed and drifting fishing gear; (e) use of scuba for underwater fishing and artificial lights; and (f) use harpoon without gun-harpoon for underwater fishing except for fishing of flatfish or brill. The Regulation establishes requirements for fishing gear marking and establishes year-round and provisional bans on some types of fisheries.
