Résumé

These Regulations place restrictions on demersal trawling for fish and shrimp in waters defined in Schedule 2 to these Regulations. Demersal (dragging or pulling of a net on the bottom of the sea) trawling for fish or shrimp is permitted in the specified territorial waters at a distance of two nautical miles from the coast as defined in regulation 4. Regulation 5 allows demersal trawling for shrimp in territorial waters off the South Coast, at a distance outside of two nautical miles from that coast. Regulation 6 restricts trawling with non-artisanal trawlers in the Gulf of Paria. Demersal trawling within one nautical mile of the coast is prohibited within the Gulf of Paria. Restrictions are placed on fishing with vessels of a specified engine size. Regulation 7 prohibits demersal trawling except as provided for in these Regulations and in particular demersal trawling within twelve nautical miles of the coastline of Tobago and the territorial waters off the east coast, The Regulations shall not apply to authorized training and research activities.
