Subject to these Regulations, demersal (bottom) trawling for fish or shrimp is permitted in the territorial waters of the North Coast at a distance outside off two nautical miles from that coast defined in the Schedule (reg. 3, comma 1). No trawling is permitted in the East Coast. Regulation 4 allows demersal trawling for shrimp off the South Coast, at a distance outside of two nautical miles from that coast. Regulation 5 restricts trawling with non-artisanal trawlers in the Gulf of Paria. Demersal trawling within 12 nautical miles of the coast is permitted only on the North coast. No demersal trawling shall be done on the East coast of Trinidad and Tobago. The Regulations shall not apply to authorized training and research activities.
