Entry into force notes
The Federal Law enters into force from the date of its official publication.
Résumé

This Law introduces such notions as genetic therapy, emission in environment of genetically modified organisms , biological protection and transgenic organisms. Genetic therapy (genotherapy) is the totality of genetic engineering (biotechnological) and medical methods aimed at modification of human somatic cells for the purpose of medical treatment. Emission in environment of genetically modified organisms is such action or inaction that caused bringing in environment of genetically modified organisms (except for genetic therapy). Biological protection is the creation and use in the field of genetic modification safe for human race and environment combinations of biological material which properties exclude undesirable survival in environment of genetically modified organism and (or) transfer to them of genetic information. Transgenic organisms are wildlife and animal species, plants, micro-organisms, viruses which genetic program has been modified with the use of genetic modification methods.
