Résumé This Law is composed of 19 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 provides for the establishment of the competent Directorate for controlling and regulating the use of radiation sources as well as protecting the environment against their hazards and dangers. Article 3 provides for the establishment of the Committee for Protection against Radiation. Article 4 defines competencies and duties of the Committee which are to: (a) adopt legislations, regulations and rules for the protection against radiation; (b) express opinions and give technical consultation concerning matters referred to by the Chairman of the Committee; and, (c) adopt emergency plans in order to face radioactive disasters. Article 5 prohibits the following: (a) importation, exportation, transportation, storage, production and circulation of ionizing sources (b) treatment of radioactive wastes; and, (c) installation or construction of radiation sources, laboratories for ionizing sources. Article 6 deals with licences necessary to practice the aforesaid activities. Article 7 defines licence's fees and taxes and article 8 deals with obligations of licencees.
