Résumé This Executive Decree, under article 201 of the Fisheries Law No. 6-A/04 of 8 October and Decree No. 39/05 of 6 June on Aquaculture Regulation, establishes the conditions under which aquaculture in an extensive production system may be authorized. It applies to all aquaculture activities in an extensive production system, including mariculture and continental aquaculture in its different modalities, supervision and licensing to all natural or legal persons who wish to carry out this activity in the territory and/or jurisdictional waters of Angola. The extensive production system is characterized by: a) the fish breeding in small water ponds made by family members or individual companies for their own consumption; b) by low density of fish breeding; c) for its practice in artificial ponds, reservoirs, dams, large tanks, etc.; d) by the use of low technologies; e) by using the natural productivity of the natural resources as the main source of food; f) by the range of low productions, which does not justify large investments; g) by the renewal of water, which is generally carried out by the unevenness of the seas. Aquaculture in extensive production system is governed by the following principles: a) sustainable development, implying that all aspects must take into account the regulation of aquaculture; and b) ensure economic efficiency in accordance with the protection and rational use of natural fisheries resources and biodiversity, protecting the environment and natural habitat.
