They are (i) keep the animals affected, or suspected to be affected secluded, from other animals; (ii) notify immediately the nearest veterinary point; (iii) prevent the slaughter or skinning of animals affected; (iv) prevent the transfer of carcasses, litter and dung without approval; (v) prevent movement of the animals from any place without approval; and (vi) burn the carcasses, litter and dung of animals affected. The Act deal also with (a) duty of local authorities (mainly to inform the competent authority); (b) duty of the competent authority (check the nature of the disease); (c) procedures for declaration of infected area; (d) procedures in the infected area (permits to transfer the animal, or part of it, outside the area, declaration of a secluded area, or areas, displacement of the animal from water sources and pastoral areas, warn owners of sound animals); (e) treatment of affected animals; and (f) ban of trading and circulation affected animals.
