Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Article 2 entrusts the High Council for Environment and Natural Protected Areas to regulate and control the use of radiation, radioactive materials and radioactive sources as well as defines its competencies which are: preparation of legislations, regulations, directives and technical instructions related to the protection against radiation; definition of national emission standards and criteria; control and managegment of the radioactive waste; carrying out a periodic and sudden inspection, and monitoring all activities related to the radiation; and, organization of training courses in the radiation sector. Article 4 entrusts the Ministry of Public Health to issue licences for undertaking radiation activities. Article 4 provides for the establishment of the Protection Committee against Radiation formed by 12 specialists. Article 5 defines the competencies and duties of the aforementioned Committee. Article 6 lists activities which necessitate the obtainment of previous licences. Article 8 refers to the obligations of licence's holders. Articles 10-14 deal with offences and penalties. Article 15 gives six months to all individuals operating in the radiation field to regulate their position.
