Résumé The present Regulation enforces the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001 (S.O. 2001, c. 20). The Regulation governs the sale, distribution, offering for sale, shipping, transportation and advertising of eggs and of processed egg in Ontario. The Regulation includes the following requirements: 1) A general prohibition from selling ungraded eggs, with an exemption for producers who sell directly to consumers on the farm; 2) A provision limiting sale, shipment, or transportation of ungraded eggs from a producer to an egg-grading station or first receiver (dealer) of eggs; 3) Requirement for a bill of lading when shipping eggs; 4) Requirement to sell eggs graded Canada C only to an egg-processing station; 5) A general prohibition on the use of rejects, inedible egg, and inedible processed egg in food for human consumption; 6) A general prohibition on the use of rejects, inedible egg, and inedible processed egg in food for animals intended for human consumption; 7) If rejects or inedible egg are prepared for animal food, they must be prepared in facilities separate and apart from where eggs and processed egg intended for human consumption are used or stored.; 8) Records for the shipping of rejects, inedible egg, and inedible processed egg off the premises of egg grading and processing stations.
