Résumé

This Chapter of the Code of Virginia concerns the Egg Board which is established within the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Virginia. The Chapter provides rules for composition and appointment of members and determines the powers and duties of the Board. Notably, the Egg Board supports programs of research, education, publicity, advertising, and other promotion of eggs that are the subject of the tax levy. The Chapter also establishes a special nonreverting fund known as the Virginia Egg Fund. Moneys in the Fund shall be used exclusively for the purposes set out in this Chapter. Finally, the Chapter provides for a tax levied on eggs purchased or sold for use or consumption in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and sets forth detailed rules for its collection and disposition.
