Résumé This Act concerns the management and prevention of Dutch elm disease in the territory of Manitoba. Programs and measures for the control of the disease include applying disinfecting, preventive or therapeutic treatments to infected elm trees or those in danger of becoming infected; removing and disposing of elm trees, elm stumps or elm wood; planting trees that are not susceptible to, or are tolerant of, Dutch elm disease; and monitoring the health of elm trees through surveillance (sect. 3). The Minister may provide financial assistance for the expenses derived from the implementation of the measures. The Act also provides for inspections and enforcement of the Act.
