Résumé

This Chapter of the South Carolina Code of Laws concerns drainage or levee districts under 1911 Act. It declares that the drainage of swamps, the drainage of surface water from agricultural lands and the reclamation of tidal marshes shall be considered a public benefit and conducive to the public health, convenience, utility and welfare. More specifically, the Chapter provides for procedure to establish such districts; proceedings subsequent to establishment of a district; board of drainage commissioners, and fees and expenses; construction of improvements; assessments and issuance of bonds, and federal aid; collection, deposit and disbursement of funds; subsequent operation; repairs, and injury to drainage works.
