The area shall be divided for protection purposes into Zone A (Total Reserve), Zone B (General Reserve) and Zone C (Partial Reserve). The following aims shall be pursued: (a) environmental protection of the marine area concerned; (b) protection and improvement of biological resources; (c) promotion of the knowledge of the ecological and biological aspects of marine and coastal areas; (d) performance of scientific studies and research (art. 3). Article 4 specifies the activities which are banned within the marine area, such as hunting, introduction of weapons, gathering of plants, etc. Further prohibitions are laid down in paragraphs 3 to 10 with respect to the three different Zones (fishing, both sport and professional; navigation; bathing; etc.).
