As a basic principle, the quantity of logwood destined for exportation shall be adjusted annually so as not to endanger the preservation of forest resources and the environment. The amount shall be fixed by the Minister of Forests and Plantations. Article 3 outlines general and specific requirements that shall be met by companies wishing to saw-wood and processed wood. The special requirements are defined on the basis of the origin of the wood, i.e. from Natural Production Forest, Artificial Forests, Smallholders' Estates, or Plantation Areas.
