Résumé This Decree approves the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, adopted in Rome on 3 November 2001, and signed by Brazil on 10 June 2002. The objectives of this Treaty, consisting of 35 articles divided into seven Parts and two Annexes, are the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits derived from their use, in line with the Convention on Biological Diversity, for sustainable agriculture and food security. These objectives will be achieved through a close linkage of this Agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
