This Decree enters into force on 20 February 2005.
Résumé

This Resolution is composed of 10 articles. Article 1 gives terms and definitions. Article 2 prohibits the importation of pets and domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, for the purpose of selling or transferring the ownership to other persons, unless upon an authorization issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Article 3 prohibits the importation of pet animals without a previous authorization. Article 4 authorizes the importation of animals after the obtainment of official sanitary certificates issued by the competent authority of the country of origin. Article 5 recommends that the transportation of pet animals is carried out by air cargo according to the requirements and conditions of IATA with the objective to ensure the safety and welfare of the animals. Pet animals in the United Arab Emirates shall have a Vaccination Card issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries or by a competent body authorized by the Ministry (art. 6). Article 7 deals with animals in transit and the obligation to obtain a previous permit. Article 8 entrusts the Animal Wealth Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to issue a list of dangerous species of dogs and cats. Article 9 provides for measures to be taken against animals that do not comply with importation requirements and conditions.
