Résumé This Decree approves the Regulation of the State Institute of Water Management (IGAM). The Regulation, consisting of 48 articles divided into eight Chapters, establishes the composition, duties and responsibilities of the Institute, which is linked to the State Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMAD). IGAM, as the managing entity of the State System of Water Resources Management (SEGRH-MG), is responsible for developing and implementing the State Policy for Water Resources, and is entitled to: coordinate and implement the control and evaluation of the instruments of the State Policy of Water Resources; control and monitor water resources and regulate their use; promote and provide technical support for the establishment, implementation and operation of river basin committees, agencies and related entities; grant the right to use state water resources; manage and apply the revenues collected for the use of water resources owned by the State; implement and operate the hydrometeorological, sediment and surface water and groundwater quality networks; promote actions to prevent or minimize the effects of critical hydrological events, in articulation with the organs and entities responsible for civil protection and defense; to supervise the accumulation dams for water reservation, as well as to define the conditions of operation of the reservoirs; cooperate with organs and entities of the Union and the states bordering to Minas Gerais for the management of shared hydrographic basins; prepare and keep up-to-date register of users of water resources and water infrastructure; conduct weather and climate forecast.
