This Decree enters into force 15 days after the date of its official publication.
Résumé

This Decree validates Sanitary and veterinary rules “Impact of brucellosis on human environment due to microbiological factors”. It establishes that the main sources of infection of brucellosis for human beings are sheep, goat, cattle and swine. Brucellosis shall be classified as infectious disease common to animals and human beings. Brucella shall be classified as pathogenic microorganism. Owners (farmers, lessees) of agricultural animals shall be responsible for the observance of sanitary and veterinary rules and regulations related to animal health and shall have the following duties: (a) to register animals by the local veterinary service unit; (b) to perform trade, slaughtering, grazing and transportation with prior authorization of veterinary service; (c) to put in quarantine for 30 days newly arrived animals; and (d) to inform the local veterinary unit of all suspected cases of brucellosis.
