Résumé

By this Decree the Republic of Turkey hereby approves the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants of December 2, 1961 as Revised at Geneva on November 10, 1972, on October 23, 1978, and on March 19, 1991. This Convention consists of 42 articles and the text of the Convention in its original Turkish translation. The objective of the Convention is the protection of new varieties of plants by an intellectual property right. By codifying intellectual property for plant breeders, UPOV (the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants) aims to encourage the development of new varieties of plants for the benefit of society. For plant breeders' rights to be granted, the new variety must meet four criteria under the rules established by UPOV.
