Résumé This Decree approves the Regulation of the National Quality System (SINAQ), approved by Law No. 17/2018 of 28 December. The Regulation, consisting of 32 articles divided into three Chapters and a Glossary aims to ensure the drafting of legal and technical standards or specific directives on the quality of products and services. The entity responsible for implementing the Standardization Subsystem is the National Institute for Standardization and Quality-IP (INNOQ, IP). The functions of the Standardization Subsystem are: a) promote the preparation and dissemination of Mozambican technical standards; b) ensure the preparation of the annual standardization programme and carry out the corresponding updates, consultations with interested parties, supported by the respective Standardization Committees; c) adopt a national position, in international bodies, based on the Standardization Committees and other interested parties, to participate in international standardization processes on behalf of the country; d) provide support and advice for the fulfillment of the country's commitments in the different agreements on technical barriers to trade.
