This Decree enters into force on the day after its publication.
Résumé

This Decree, consisting of 31 articles divided into six Chapters and three Annexes, approves the Classification of Boé National Park. Without prejudice to the provisions of the Framework Law on Protected Areas, the Park's main objectives are to ensure the conservation of habitats and the great biological diversity in the upper basin of the Corubal River and its effluents, safeguarding endangered animal and plant species, rare or threatened, promote ecotourism and other compatible ways of valuing and using biodiversity in order to ensure better living conditions for the resident populations. The specific attributions of the Park are namely: a) Protect and conserve outstanding and exceptional natural resources and their peculiarities, the landscape and its natural heritage, ecosystems, species and genetic resources; b) Preserve, conserve, protect and recover the most representative ecosystems and main habitats, especially those used by rare and threatened species as breeding, feeding, growing sites, corridors or places of access to water; c) Protect, preserve and restore biological heritage, namely populations of rare, threatened and/or endangered animal and plant species and their respective habitats; d) Promote the orderly use of the territory and natural resources in order to guarantee the maintenance of essential ecological processes and reduce and/or eliminate sources of pressure on natural resources; e) Establish a participatory system for monitoring, following up and managing natural resources; f) Ensure the preservation of wetlands, especially rivers and “Wendos” and their ecological functions, and monitor human activities related to their use; g) Value and promote knowledge, sociocultural practices and traditional cultural heritage, compatible with conservation. h) Support the conservation of sacred forests and the maintenance of their ecological and sociocultural functions; i) Provide the socio-economic and cultural development of the populations involved, with their active participation, based on the introduction of biodiversity into production systems, the extension and dissemination of good practices and the enhancement of their respective cultural heritage; j) Promote and organize ecotourism, recreation and leisure activities on solidary, sustainable bases and with equitable sharing of benefits for local populations; k) Order, promote, carry out and guide scientific research, education and environmental interpretation; l) Preserve natural monuments, historic, sacred and memory sites, and sites of tourist interest, allowing for their conservation and long-term enhancement; m) Support the development of peripheric forests of the park.
