Résumé

This Decree, consisting of 28 articles divided into five Chapters and one Annex, approves the Wildlife Corridor Classification of Cuntabane-Quebo. Without prejudice to the provisions of articles 7-10 and in accordance with articles 25-29 of the Framework Law on Protected Areas, the Wildlife Corridor consists of a single sustainable development or solidarity zone, which extends from the boundary of the transition zone to the park boundary and aimed at the development of sustainable and compatible socio-economic and cultural models with the natural heritage values and the Corridor's conservation objectives. The sustainable development zone may comprise the following sub-zones, classified according to the priority actions for which they are intended: a) Sacred areas identified for their ecological, socio-cultural and religious importance to local communities, having as a consequence the restrictions defined by local culture and traditions; b) Priority controlled research areas, exclusively intended for research, observation and monitoring of the dynamics of natural ecosystems, flora and fauna resources and their ecological value; c) Recovery zones where the level of degradation recommends temporary actions to restore the potential and original ecosystems and natural, landscape, architectural and other heritage, comprising the zone referred to in the previous paragraph of this article; d) Priority areas to support sustainable development, destined to controlled exploitation activities, with the development of alternative actions to activities at risk of environmental degradation and/or reinforcement of traditional management capacity. These activities are carried out within the framework of integrated planning and management and the environmental impact studies.
