This Decree-Law rules on the Legal Regime of Waste Derived from Electric and Electronic Equipment (REEE). The aim is to promote its recycling in order to reduce waste quantity and potential danger thus contributing to improve environmental behavior of all operators involved in those devices’ life cycle. In particular, it rules on: collaboration and prevention principles, forbidden substances, managing responsibilities, disposal and collection procedures, systems and related responsibilities, transport, treatment, valorization and REEE elimination. Moreover, the Decree-law identifies the Waste Institute as the responsible authority, sets its duties as well as the monitoring procedures. Finally, the Decree-law regulates the information and public awareness requirements.
