A permit shall be obtained for each consignment whether imported or exported. The Board shall before taking a decision on a permit, take into account the interests of other producers and consumers (reg. 6). An import permit shall not be issued unless the applicant obtains a no-objection certificate from the Veterinary Department and an export permit shall not be issued unless the applicant obtains a veterinary approval stating that the milk to be exported is fit and that it meets the health requirements of the importing country. An importer that has met all requirements shall be provided with a clearance certificate by the Board pursuant to regulation 7. Regulation 8 requires an importer to provide the Board, at the Board’s request, with particulars as specified regarding imported dairy produce. Penalties are prescribed.
