Résumé

This Act, consisting of 55 sections divided into six Parts and completed by three Schedules, provides for the establishment of the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Authority and defines its internal organization. The functions of the Authority are: to facilitate the maintenance and development of the dairy industry; to develop and implement policies to achieve, as far as practicable, economies in the dairy industry; advise the Minister; to promote the health and productivity of dairy herds, etc. A person shall not carry on business as a dairy farmer or as a processor of market milk unless that person holds a licence in force under this Act. The Authority may grant an application for a licence subject to any conditions the Authority considers appropriate. The Authority, with the approval of the Minister, may make Codes of Practice for the industry.
