Acquiring and exporting crocodiles requires a licence to be granted by the Minister under section 5. Regulations to be made by the Minister under this Act may prohibit or restrict the taking, killing, possession, acquiring, disposal or exporting of crocodiles. The Minister may, by notice in the National Gazette, prohibit or restrict the taking or killing of crocodiles of a particular species or of a specified size in an area and during a period specified in the notice (sect. 10). The Conservator of Fauna appointed under Section 4 of the Fauna (Protection and Control) Act 1966 shall maintain a register of crocodile farms in accordance with section 11. A person shall not export crocodiles without the prior written permission of the Minister or his delegate (sect. 17).
