Résumé

This Act (34 sections and 1 Schedule) provides for the continuation of the Creston Valley wildlife management area for wildlife conservation, management and development, held by the Government in trust for such purposes (sect. 2). Main provisions: the exercise of rights on natural resources, granted by licence under other laws, is prohibited except under permit issued by the management authority (sect. 5); proprietary or licence rights in or over land in the management area, that subsisted immediately before 15 November 1968, shall not be affected (sect. 6); power to declare sanctuary areas (sect. 10); the management authority consists of an officer appointed by the minister, the Director of the Canadian Wildlife Service (sect. 16); funds for the management area shall be constituted from appropriated money (money appropriated by a legislature other than by grant) and the trust fund (fees for permits and licences under this Act) (sect. 20); before issuing a permit, the management authority may require the applicant to pay a rehabilitation deposit to cover the estimated costs of repair or restoration of the management area; Lieutenant Governor in Council's power to make regulations (sect. 33).
