Résumé

The present Directive amends and supplements Directive 91/630/EC establishing standards for the protection of pigs. Article 3 shall be replaced by the text laid down in article 1 (1) of this Directive. The new provision sets forth the requirements to be met by holdings and flooring surfaces and lays down further rules regarding the keeping of pigs. Article 5a shall be inserted after article 5. On the basis of this new article, Member States shall ensure that any person who employs or engages persons to attend to pigs ensures that the person attending to the animals has received instructions and guidance on the relevant provisions of article 3 and the Annex to Directive 91/630/EEC. Appropriate training courses shall be made available by Member States. Such courses shall focus particularly on welfare aspects.
