Résumé

These Regulations amend the prescribed circumstances and fees for granting permits authorizing persons to have in their possession unregistered bulls. The definition of small herd (reg. 4c) now reads: "herd of cattle of which not more than 30 are breeding female cattle (that is to say, cows and breeding heifers) and which is owned by a person who does not engage in the production of milk for public sale. A permit to keep an unregistered may now be granted by the Minister also to a person in respect of a bull whose genetic merit as respects such economic traits as the Minister considers appropriate: (i) has been evaluated in such manner as the Minister considers adequate by reference to such records of performance as the Minister considers appropriate; and (ii) is, in the opinion of the Minister having regard to the evaluation, of an acceptable standard.
